WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool

WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool

WAVE is a suite of evaluation tools that helps authors make their web content more accessible to individuals with disabilities. WAVE can identify many accessibility and Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) errors, but also facilitates human evaluation of web content. Our philosophy is to focus on issues that we know impact end users, facilitate human evaluation, and to educate about web accessibility.

You can use the online WAVE tool by entering a web page address (URL) in the field above. WAVE Firefox and Chrome extensions are available for testing accessibility directly within your web browser – handy for checking password protected, locally stored, or highly dynamic pages. We also have a WAVE Runner service, subscription WAVE API and a stand-alone WAVE API for easily collecting data on many pages. If you need enterprise-level reporting and tracking of accessibility, WAVE powers the Pope Tech accessibility tool.

The Differences Between the Internet and the Web

Main » Did You Know » Internet »

By Vangie Beal

Many people use the terms Internet and World Wide Web (aka. the Web) interchangeably, but in fact the two terms are not synonymous. The Internet and the Web are two separate but related things.

What is The Internet?

Internet IconThe internet is a massive network of networks, a networking infrastructure. It connects millions of computers together globally, forming a network in which any computer can communicate with any other computer as long as they are both connected to the internet. Information that travels over the internet does so via a variety of languages known as protocols.

Quick Points about The Internet:

  • It is a global network connecting millions of computers.
  • The internet is decentralized.
  • Each internet computer is independent.
  • There are a variety of ways to access the internet.
  • There are more than 3.5 billion internet users in the world.

Internet Citations to Web Sites

Standards have been in place for the proper citation of published works for many
centuries. High school students are increasingly expected to include properly formatted
references to the sources that they have used when researching their essays.
Unfortunately, no “definitive standard for the citation of…[Internet] resources
has yet to emerge.

number of “standards” being used.

Unfortunately, Internet web sites seem to disagree on the exact details of
these various formats. We recommend that you consult original source material in
the event that you are required to follow a specific format.

APA Format (American Psychological Association): 2

Home – The Official Daniel Johnston Web Site

  • By Claire Ricke | January 19, 2018 @11:47 AM

AUSTIN, Texas – In an effort to celebrate mental wellness, Austin Mayor Steve Adler has declared Jan. 22 “Hi, How Are You” Day.

The iconic piece of Austin street art serves a purpose beyond a tourist attraction. Located at the corner of Guadalupe and 21st Street, “Hi, How Are You” was painted by singer-songwriter Daniel Johnston, who has dealt with his own mental health issues.

Co-founders Courtney Blanton and Tom Gimbel created the “Hi, How Are You” Foundation based on the art piece to promote mental well-being and educate communities on mental health issues. Their goal is to spark a conversation and help those suffering in silence find someone to talk to.

“However people are, whatever they are dealing with, you could be the turning point in that moment. Sometimes people just need to be heard,” states

What is Web site? – Definition from WhatIs.com

This definition is also listed under presence, site and Website.

A Web site is a related collection of World Wide Web (WWW) files that includes a beginning file called a home page. A company or an individual tells you how to get to their Web site by giving you the address of their home page. From the home page, you can get to all the other pages on their site. For example, the Web site for IBM has the home page address of http://www.ibm.com. (The home page address actually includes a specific file name like index.html but, as in IBM’s case, when a standard default name is set up, users don’t have to enter the file name.) IBM’s home page address leads to thousands of pages. (But a Web site can also be just a few pages.)

Since site implies a geographic place, a Web site can be
